01Context
Instability and fissuring have appeared at several sites in northern Senegal, threatening infrastructure.
Multidisciplinary expertise was required to understand the underlying causes.
02Stakes
Understanding the subsurface was essential to the reliability and safety of decisions to be made.
The challenge was to substantiate the diagnosis with robust field data.
03Mission objectives
- Characterize the geology and geophysics of the sites
- Analyze the hydrogeological context
- Determine the causes of soil instability
- Propose solutions and recommendations
04Services delivered by EAU-GEF
- Geological and geophysical studies of the sites
- Hydrogeological study of the sites and surrounding areas
- Diagnosis of the causes of instability
- Technical recommendations for remediation
05Approach & methodology
The method combined geological surveys, geophysics and cross-interpretation to resolve subsurface uncertainties.
Results were mapped to prioritize sectors and guide decisions.
06Results & added value
The results provided a reliable geoscientific diagnosis, the foundation for subsequent technical decisions.
The mission demonstrates EAU-GEF's expertise in applied geosciences.
